Team-A: Our 1st week

Hey Everyone! Kylee (teens) and Ben (kids) here to fill you in on what’s been happening over here in Eastern Europe! Life has been full speed ahead the past few days. The teens have become much more comfortable with us as well as more vulnerable and open with us. We are learning a lot more Russian and they have learned some English. Still most of our communication is through animated facial expressions, gestures, and awkward laughter. Team-A: We are here!

Preevyet from Eastern Europe! We arrived in country at 11:00pm and we were amazed that it was still light outside. The place that we are staying is a dorm at a Christian college in the city. They rent the building out as a hostel throughout the summer, which is how they get revenue to operate the college. Farnum and Ben are in a room together, so are Maddie, Erika, and Anna. FFMC: Day2!

Heavy rain during the night brought cooler temperatures-and more energy! Day 2 at the orphanage began with the day’s theme of kindness and a good Samaritan skit enjoyed by all (how can you go wrong with a rich businessman, a police officer and a Chechen on a Harley?) Some of the big kids helped with the parachute in the gym, and the little kids had a blast doing parachute games. FFMC: The team has arrived!

After long travels, the First Free Methodist Church team from Seattle, WA has arrived and getting some long awaited sleep! Thank you everyone for your prayers! Please continue to pray for the team as they go through some training tomorrow, learning about what it means to live in the Russian culture and memorizing some Russian words! Since the FFMC team is here for only 9 days, they have gone through much of the training in the US before their departure.
