CBU: St Petersburg – the power of prayer

Last update from the team in St Petersburg:

It is hard to believe our last day in country is tomorrow! This week has been one of incredible breakthroughs with teams, the power of prayer in action. Our team had the opportunity to share their story of faith multiple times with the teens and children. Knowing that we might not see an individual the next day spurred our urgency to share truth, and God was faithful to give us the opportunity to share!

IMG_3209Our week of ministry ended with celebrations at the Transit Center. We had planned a Discoteca, but instead, we spent time just loving on the kids. Saying goodbye was not an easy thing. The teens kept asking if we would be coming back, and it was heartbreaking to know the answer. We left gifts for the children and teens, and many of us compiled our personal things to leave as a memory with each of them. They taught us so much in a short amount of time. We leave Russia with our hearts broken, and our lives changed.

We spent the next 24 hours debriefing what we will take away from this journey. Each team member was incredibly changed as they witnessed God move as we prayed. They have witnessed his power in chaos and difficult situations, implementing prayer continually throughout the day. It has changed how they view prayer, and our God who answers prayers. Second, each team member shared their story on at least one occasion. The fear of sharing about God has been replaced with prayers to live out their faith boldy when they return. Last, they have all felt moved to action. The team wants to be involved in mobilizing others to serve, serve in ministries locally, and grow in personal leadership.

Today, we finished our debriefing, and then spent the afternoon in celebration. Kayla Kubo had the opportunity to be baptized here in Russia. Kayla accepted the Lord prior to particpating in ISP. Because of the close relationships and accountability she had formed with the team, Kayla wanted to be baptized with her team present. Pastor Boris from Calvary Chapel in St. Petersburg welcomed the opportunity to help Kayla take the step of obedience. It has been such an incredible blessing to see Kayla grow in her faith!

Tomorrow, we will see St. Isaac’s Cathedral and Swan Lake at the Russian Ballet. Then, we will head for the airport to make the journey home. A few prayer requests, along with safe travels; for our health. We have a virus moving among us! Please pray for all of us to be healthy as we begin our travels. Alejandro has been ill today, and we are praying he will have improved by the morning. We are suffering with scratchy throats and small bouts of nausea. We look forward to seeing all of our friends and family -and cannot wait to share our stories of Russia with each of you!

Blessings, Russia A
