Well, our week in St Petersburg is just about done and again what a blessing it has been! For the past couple days we’ve been playing with the children as usual and each day brings new experiences with the kids.
As we were playing with the children on Thursday we were all dreading the next day where we would have to say goodbye to the children we had spent all week playing with. Little did we know that on Friday, we wouldn’t have to say goodbye because the children were on a field trip to the zoo!
Though we were a little discouraged at first, we soon found other children that were younger and in need of just as much attention as the kids we had been playing with all week.
So, though we didn’t get to play with our kids one last time, we were able to give some much needed attention to a younger group of kids, many of which were going to be adopted by various families across the world :D! Needless to say, it was an encouraging way to end the week.
In the afternoons, we’ve been exploring more and more of St. Petersburg, visiting the Hermitage, St. Isaac’s Cathedral and even getting in some souvenir shopping. :] Last night, we had the privilege to go see a performance of Swan Lake, composed by the well known Russian composer Tchaikovsky.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we prepare to leave for Novgorod tomorrow. Magen and I will be specifically sitting down with some of the older kids for some Q&A time about various subjects that pertain to their age group, ranging from dating to drugs and alcohol-or wherever their questions lead us. (Oh! And also pray that the cold that’s been going around here does not affect us so we can minister to the kids in Novgorod!)
