CBU: A day of rest!

Update from CBU A team: Today has been a day of rest and recharging! How awesome it was to worship at Calvary Chapel with other believers! Although we missed our heart language during worship, it was beautiful to hear voices raised in worship, in a foreign place! The message was translated into English, and spoke so directly to each one of us. We read from Mark 16, the Great Commission! The afternoon was spent at Tanya Mendakoff’s home. She served us a wonderful lunch of traditional Borscht. It was delicious. Then we traversed to the park where we spent an … Continue reading

CBU: News from Novgorod

Another update from the CBU team in Novgorod: I (Kristi) am pleased to tell you that our team has survived (and thrived) in our first week of minsitry in the transit centers here in Novgorod. In just one week, we have already learned so many of the stories of these children, and it burdens our hearts to labor even harder in order to share/plant seeds of the Gospel. So many of these children and teenagers come from unfathomable backgrounds, and our team has begun to feel the emotional repurcusions of this ministry. Please pray that we would continue to press … Continue reading

CBU: Almost done with first week…

First week of ministry is almost done and God has been doing amazing things through both teams from CBU!  Here is an update from the team working in St Petersburg: Priviet (Hello) Family and Friends! We are almost halfway through our journey here in Russia and it has been quite the experience! We had our first day of ministry at the transit center on Monday and have found out that flexibility with plans is the key to success here. The look on the team’s face was priceless as the youngest children at the center came into the room and we … Continue reading

CBU: First day with the kids!

An update for CBU Russia B team: Hello from Novgorod, Russia! We have all arrived safely and with all of our luggage, which is a great triumph when traveling overseas! Thank you for lifting us up! I (Kristi) am writing to you just after Michelle and I were caught in a lightning storm in our search for wifi at a local McDonald’s. Needless to say, we are so excited to finally be getting this update to you! Our cross-cultural journey began during our 7 hour layover in Germany. We were able to take a bus from the airport out to … Continue reading

CBU: The last days of training

An update from CBU Russia Team A: Incredible as it may seem, we have already been in St. Petersburg for 4 days! Our journey to Russia was uneventful! We were blessed to spend an afternoon in Heidelberg, Germany-tasting the local German food and enjoying the beautiful sights of the college town. We landed late at night in St. Petersburg, with most of our luggage! Kayla’s guitar however, did not arrive. We spent the next two hours filing paperwork to try to locate the lost guitar. We were able to sleep in a bit before getting up the next morning. Our … Continue reading
