An Easter Tradition
March 28, 2013 in SunErgos NEWS
As Sunday is only a few days away, our house is busy in preparations of the celebration!
Easter Sunday we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior! After the dark Holy Week filled with suffering for Jesus, the sunrise brings joy and gratitude that we are forgiven.
The preparation starts with making the right kind of dough for Russian tradition Easter cakes , “Kulich”. A tradition that comes from Michael, who grew up in a Russian Orthodox home. As a young boy he would help knead the dough for grandma; some of his cherished memories! Each year as he makes the Easter cakes “Kulich”, it takes him back to the small kitchen of his childhood; with grandma bustling around to make sure the dough does not overflow, filling every container possible and making so many cakes that it wold take them a month to eat! Now, we are making such memories with our children.
We hope that you take the time to remember the cross where Jesus suffered and died. Take time to sit still and relive the event over 2000 years ago. Then on Sunday, as you celebrate His resurrection and giving us Life, may you be thankful for the salvation that we have through Jesus!
Christ has Risen! He has Risen Indeed!
