A Day Full of Surprises!

Day 7! A surprise day! Today we woke up and readied ourselves to go spend time with our kids!  But then Tatiana received an unexpected phone call from the orphanage telling her that we could not come today because an inspection was going to happen in the afternoon.  It was briefly disheartening but it was clear that God was at work and we were thankful for his protection, and to our prayer warriors at home.  We will get to see the kids tomorrow and finish our week with them!!! Day 6 Hello everyone!  Today was another gift of fun and blessings.  We began the day with a visit to St Isaac’s Cathedral.  In this digital age it’s even more amazing to see the creations man is capable of simply by using his hands, muscles, and brain.  It’s like WOW amazing!  While we were there we climbed 300 step spiral staircase to the Colonnade and enjoyed the view of the city in the fresh air.  After that we stopped for a quick lunch (not!) at what I’m pretty sure was the busiest McDonalds in the world where Diet Coke and … Continue reading →

Celebrating a birthday with the kids!

Day 5 Happy Birthday Bonnie!!! What a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day this was!!  In the morning we spent a little time shopping and having lunch in a mall that I think had about 56 floors.  Tessa, Thomas, and Savannah really enjoyed that, and…wait for it…Jami, Anne and Bonnie got their beloved Starbucks! Day four in Russia!

Day four in Russia began with a morning of sightseeing.  We visited the Sphinx from Egypt, Saint Nicholas’ Cathedral, Cruiser Aurora and the Peter and Paul Fortress.  Though the weather was cool and misty, they were amazing sights and our cameras were clicking away! An update from the Three Rivers Church Team: The first day of VBS went by like a cool breeze on a summer day…NOT! We were dripping with sweat and dragging our feet along the side of our suitcases full of supplies trying to get to the orphanage.
