CBU – St Petersburg: An update from the guys!

God has been blessing us in so many ways and it has been amazing seeing it play out in everyone’s lives.  We have been doing tons of different activities with the kids and it has been thoroughly tiring, but we are all still excited to see what God has in store for us and the kids.

The biggest achievement in the last couple days was the story of a three year old little boy in the Transit Center named Sasha. When we had first showed up he was so unresponsive to anything and it was really hard on the girls working with the little kids, but after a couple days Kevin sat down with him and slowly began to break him out of his shell. It went from playing with toy cars to running around the room laughing.  It was amazing to see such an emotionless face on a three year old boy turn into a face filled with joy. He now is attached to Hailey and has stolen her heart. It shows how love can penetrate anything; especially if it is Christ centered. Needless to say, this action pushed the team forward with a greater sense for what we are here for.

The guys are still outside everyday playing sports, mostly soccer, and getting really dirty. This is great because most of the teams that visit are all girls and we have a wonderful opportunity as guys to connect with these boys. We are continuing to build relationships and hoping that God will open doors for us to share his redemptive love with the boys and to begin to know them better.  We are only with them for a couple weeks, but our hope is that by the end the kids will have a desire to open a Bible and learn more based on what they see through us.

The girls have been able to use their testimonies to get through to the teen girls at the center and they have really opened up to them through the time for questions after each story is told. The girls have also taken a liking to sitting around and talking while making bracelets. This has been a major blessing because it is great to see God break through the language barrier.

Thank you all for your prayers and support and please continue to pray for God to work in the lives of these children and that He will supply us the strength to push on and the love to share.

Until next time…

Soccer…of course…as soon as I told Dad about your ankle he said he was probably playing soccer.

I wish I could reach through this computer and take some of these children into my home, but since I can’t, I am so glad you can love on them for these 3 weeks. I am praying that God magnifies everything you are all doing, and that broken and scared hearts & minds will be healed by the Great Physician. Also praying for strength and endurance for you for: “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He give strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increase power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” Isaiah 40: 28-31

Love to you all from No Cal!
