A few days left for the teams’ ministry in Russia. Both teams are finishing up their day camps at the orphanage and disability center. If you ask one of the team members: “Was it hard?” Their answer will be a definite – “Yes!” But you cannot stop there…. keep asking, “Was it worth the difficult days and the tears?” And you will hear an unanimous – “Yes!”
Each team has been stretched to their limits, but the rewards are plentiful. The growth on each team shows how God has been at work in each life. Short-term missions has always caused disagreement between Christians – Is it worth it? Throughout the last eight summers, as SunErgos serves alongside short-term mission teams, we have seen the amazing work being done in the lives of the young students that decide to take a leap of faith and follow God’s calling to go and serve the poor, the widow and the orphan.
James 1: 27 says: Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after the fatherless and the widow in their distress.
These teams have shown that theirs is a religion that follows Christ’s teaching. They go and do what God has called them to do. As a result – God has been teaching each one to be more and more like Him.
Our prayer for each one is that the things they have learned in Russia will go home with them and will continue to change each young heart. So that they go back different than when they left home…throwing away the old shoes and bringing new ones from Russia.
Please continue to pray for each team member as they finish their ministry and begin to process what God has been teaching them and how do they implement their new selves back home.
The teams love to hear your comments and encouragement. They send their greetings and love! Soon you will hear their stories and see their pictures! 🙂
