Day four in Russia!

Day four in Russia began with a morning of sightseeing.  We visited the Sphinx from Egypt, Saint Nicholas’ Cathedral, Cruiser Aurora and the Peter and Paul Fortress.  Though the weather was cool and misty, they were amazing sights and our cameras were clicking away! Our afternoon spent with the kids was another fun blessing.  Everyone enjoyed the lesson of David and Goliath presented by Thomas!  He had the kids act out the showdown.  Goliath stood on top of large gym foam blocks and held a sword, while David was down on his knees with his two sheep on knees and … Continue reading

Like a cool breeze…

An update from the Three Rivers Church Team: The first day of VBS went by like a cool breeze on a summer day…NOT! We were dripping with sweat and dragging our feet along the side of our suitcases full of supplies trying to get to the orphanage. A Busy Week Ahead!

Our final team for the year is here! The team from Three Rivers Church sends their greetings to friends and family from Saint Petersburg, Russia! Very important things to know when working with kids! In the afternoon each one experienced riding the underground metro, which is exciting and terrifying at … Continue reading

(No matter where you are, kids will never turn down a surprise party with surprise gifts.)  But even with us ending our time in Russia and heading back to the States today, it all feels so far from the end. We don’t know where the kids will end up: if a family member will pick them up or if they will get transferred to a closer orphanage. We don’t quite … Continue reading

Seattle Team: We have met the kids!

Preevyet!  Mean-yah zah-voot, Lacey Martin!  (For those of you wondering, yes, this is one of the team members writing.) 🙂 I just wanted to take a moment and share a little bit about our experiences from the past few days upon arriving in St. Petersburg.  Although my personal beginning started out with a few bumps, (one flight delay which totally altered my entire day of departure/flight schedule),  I safely landed on Russian soil–praising the Lord for the evidences of His hand throughout it all, and being welcomed by the director of SunErgos–a sight for tired eyes.  I was then transported … Continue reading
