We are a team, so here is our team blog. This morning we were out the door by 9:15 a.m. for our last day at the orphanage. Upon our arrival the children were ecstatic to have the “Americans” back for one last day. The day was filled with stories, games, laughter, fun and a farewell backpack for each child full of plenty of goodies to celebrate the culmination of our time together!
We were pleasantly surprised and delighted when we reviewed what we had shared, that the kids remembered all the crucial points that were the heart of our message. All the team members left the orphanage with a sense that we had accomplished God’s mission for us here. Of course there was also a taste of sadness in our hearts as we said “Dasvedanya” (good bye) one final time to the children who had captured our hearts.
The afternoon was spent debriefing, as a group and personally reflecting on our time here. We all filled out evaluations, asked for by SunErgos, so that they may constantly be improving their ministry. The rest of the night was filled with lots of packing, one last shopping trip, showers, and a final yummy Russian home cooked meal.
We’re down fifty percent as it is approaching ten pm and we have to be up by about 2:45 am. So we are signing off and saying goodnight! We will be seeing you soon!! Thank you so much for your prayers and your encouragement. It means more to us than we can say, we felt as though all of you were part of our team as well. God bless you!
Blessings to all of you as you make your way home! What a week you have had! Jami, I can’t wait to hear your stories. I know your family has done very well while you were gone! But I know how excited they will be to see you! I am so happy that I have been able to read the blog each day and imagine in my mind those precious kids and the leadership they have had! Safe travels and Godspeed!
This blog has been such a treasure for all of us “state-side” 🙂 We’ve had a chance to feel God’s presence through your pictures and words. Thank you for including all of us in what felt like a daily prayer unfolding in front of our eyes. Safe travels to all and I can’t wait to hear all the stories and “meet” each of the children and each of you through the pictures.
See you soon!!! Can’t wait to hear it all. 🙂
