Celebrating a birthday with the kids!

Day 5

Happy Birthday Bonnie!!!

What a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day this was!!  In the morning we spent a little time shopping and having lunch in a mall that I think had about 56 floors.  Tessa, Thomas, and Savannah really enjoyed that, and…wait for it…Jami, Anne and Bonnie got their beloved Starbucks!

When we got to the orphanage it was Bonnie and Anne’s day to lead the lesson.  The story was Jesus feeds 5,000 and the topic was “thankfulness”.  Bonnie shared some stories about her life and used them to teach the kids how thankful she has been to God and his love for her.  Anne told the story of Jesus feeding 5,000 with her (should be trademarked) smile, and God was shining right through her face; yes, I am serious, I saw it!  Anne and Bonnie were truly God inspired deliverers of his love and Word today.  Bravo!

One of today’s crafts was to make a thank you card for someone, and MANY chose to make Bonnie a birthday card.   She saved them all for a quiet and thankful treat in private before bed.  We ended our day with a birthday dinner at a restaurant with authentic Russian food and ambiance.  We played dominoes at the table and savored every single yummy filled bite!  It was a brilliant night!  We got home late and of course drained but we filled up on sharing our high’s and low’s of the day, and a devotional led by Anne.  We all went to bed with full tummies and a big drink of spiritual refill.

Again, thank you all for your support, prayers, and posts.  We cannot possibly get enough of all three.  We miss you, we talk about you, and we pray for you, we love you.

P.S. A special note to Wayne Paney.  You couldn’t have more informative when you told us that missions are not only something you bring to someone else.  Missions are very much meant to bring us closer with Jesus.  🙂

Congratulations on a lesson that was truly inspired and from the heart. Your faith is shining through! What a wonderful way to spend a birthday and hope you liked and all the cards. Sounds like great Russian food but I wonder if it is as good as the Russian Borsh Beet soup that Bonnie makes for Paul and I? Enjoy the coffee and your time with the children! Praying for safety and we’ll be waiting for your return.

Happy Birthday Mom! Glad the lesson was a success, that was a good story to teach to spread the word of Jesus Christ. Glad the trip is full of fun and everyone is having a great time and full of excitement. Praying everyday for everyone and the orphans to come to Jesus. Can’t wait for the return!
