What a long day! Second day of training is finished and the team is getting some much needed rest!
The day started out with learning about the rich Russian history! So much to share in just a few hours! By now they are all experts in Russian history! So, when they get home, make sure to ask them about some of the important people in Russian history.
Along with the country’s history, the team found out that St Petersburg during WWII, then Leningrad, was under a 900 day blockade by the Germans. Amazing to hear the stories of the survivors of such a horrific chapter in the city’s history.
After eating the famous “blini” for lunch, the team had a few hours at the Hermitage Museum. The museum consists of the Winter Palace and five smaller Palaces attached. To see everything in the museum, (3 million items), it will take over 5 years if you stop for at least a minute in front of each item! So, the only option is to move in and live at the museum for five years! 🙂
Then off to dinner the teams went to eat at a place that looks like a “Dacha”. To find out what a “dacha” is, look up online: “Russian Dacha”. 🙂 They had a chance to try some “pelmeni”, which are dumplings with meat inside.
And to finish off the very long day, the team went to a souvenir shop to buy some souvenirs and presents to take home.
Tomorrow they will finish the training with learning about the culture of the Russian people. The differences and the similarities between Russia and the USA. Did you know that if you walk around smiling in Russia, that people will think that you are crazy? 🙂 And, it is rude to look someone in the eye at all times when you are talking with them! You must look away, and then look back! You can find out more from the team when they come back home!
Thank you for your comments, encouragement and prayers! The comments you post are read daily to the team! So, keep on commenting! 🙂 And, praying!
What an interesting day you all had. Keep up the good work!
Remember, ‘the joy of the Lord is our strength”. God bless you all. Thanks for the updates. (Love you Gracie-poo.)

Oh man that sounds so awesome! Love you Sarah can’t wait to ask you a million questions when you get back sounds like you’re having a great time!
p.s. these updates are cool Thanks!
So did you eat the blinis with sour cream, jam or honey? The Dachas are those homes that are really decorated, kind of like Victorian homes? Wow, to be in a place with so much history…I am drooling. Lots to take in!
We are thankful for the opportunity for these young people to serve the Lord (Matt. 28:19) in such an educationally rich environment! We pray for the team and orphans as God reveals Himself amongst the activities! We love and miss you Samantha. God Bless – Mom and Dad
