Day 7!
\nA surprise day!<\/p>\n

Today we woke up and readied ourselves to go spend time with our kids!\u00a0 But then Tatiana received an unexpected phone call from the orphanage telling her that we could not come today because an inspection was going to happen in the afternoon.\u00a0 It was briefly disheartening but it was clear that God was at work and we were thankful for his protection, and to our prayer warriors at home.\u00a0 We will get to see the kids tomorrow and finish our week with them!!!<\/p>\n

\"WinterPalace-inside2\"<\/a>The thought of leaving without being able to complete our lessons and say good-bye was not a good one.\u00a0 Plan B was switching Friday\u2019s schedule with Saturday\u2019s, so we went to The Hermitage Museum, one of the two grandest art museums in the world (the Louvre in Paris is the other)!\u00a0 It was magnificent to say the least.<\/p>\n

The highlight was seeing Rembrandt\u2019s The Prodigal Son.\u00a0 I wish I could describe it, but it\u2019s really more of a feeling versus a vision, and perhaps for some a personal feeling.\u00a0 It is larger than life and exquisite, and really, those are tiny words to describe being in its presence.\u00a0 One could stand in front of it for hours.<\/p>\n

\"Winter<\/a>After the museum we dined together in a cozy Italian restaurant called Mama Roma.\u00a0 It was a perfect setting and sitting after walking for a long time, we were very hungry and the food was scrumptious.\u00a0 Thomas finished any and everything that was not completely consumed by the team.\u00a0 (I told you we were hungry \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Speaking of Thomas; what a great guy.\u00a0 He has been a gentleman through and through.\u00a0 Every day he lives generously.\u00a0 He has been very courteous and very protective of all of us.\u00a0 We are always in his sight even when he cannot literally see us.\u00a0 I hope that is a good enough description because once again, it\u2019s a feeling that his behavior provides, not something you only see with your eyes.<\/p>\n
